Howth Lifeboat Station

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a registered charity which exists to save lives at sea. It provides, on call, the 24-hour service necessary to cover search and rescue requirements to 50 miles out from the coast of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Howth lifeboat station was established prior to 1825 and was taken over by the Institution in 1862 from the Dublin Ballast Board, together with Poolbeg and Kingstown.

In 1967 Inshore lifeboat station was established with the placing on service of a D class lifeboat. Cost of D class defrayed by Boy Scouts of Ireland Jubilee Fund.

Howth Lifeboat Station have a Trent class and a D Class lifeboat on Station.

The RNLI depends entirely on voluntary contributions and legacies for its income.
